SS Innovations Hits 4,000 Robotic Surgeries Milestone with SSi Mantra System.

SS Innovations International Inc. recently celebrated a major achievement as its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system surpassed 4,000 successful surgeries. These procedures covered more than 100 different types of operations and were performed without any complications, injuries, or fatalities, underscoring the system’s reliability and safety.

Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, SS Innovations highlighted that the total surgeries include approximately 215 cardiac procedures. Among these, six cardiac surgeries were conducted remotely via telesurgery across India using the latest SSi Mantra 3 robotic system. Dr. Vishwa Srivastava, the company’s chief operating officer and chairman of the board, previously discussed their telesurgery initiatives with The Robot Report, emphasizing their commitment to expanding remote surgical capabilities.

“This milestone of 4,000 robotic surgeries completed with our SSi Mantra system demonstrates its superior quality, unique features, ease of use, and growing acceptance by top physicians, particularly in India where we lead the market,” said Srivastava. He added that the company is actively pursuing entry into the U.S. and European Union markets, aiming for CE Mark approval in late 2025 and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance by mid-2026.

SS Innovations aims to democratize robotic surgery by making it more affordable and accessible to a broader global population. Their product lineup includes the proprietary SSi Mantra system alongside the comprehensive SSi Mudra instrument suite, designed to support a wide range of surgical procedures.

The SSi Mantra system features advanced technology and user-friendly design elements. It is modular, offering three to five robotic arms, an open-faced ergonomic surgeon command center, and a 32-inch 3D 4K monitor for enhanced visualization. Additionally, a 23-inch 2D touch-panel monitor displays patient information and real-time virtual images of the robotic arms. The system can also overlay 3D diagnostic imaging models, improving precision and safety. A vision cart allows the surgical team at the patient’s side to view the same high-resolution magnified 3D images as the lead surgeon.

Equipped with over 40 types of robotic endo-surgical instruments, the SSi Mantra supports multiple surgical specialties, including cardiac surgery. Its clinical validation in India covers more than 100 distinct procedures, reinforcing its versatility and effectiveness.

The company introduced the SSi Mantra 3 in July 2024, which has since gained regulatory approval from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) for remote surgeries and teleproctoring. This opens new avenues for remote surgical operations and medical training. In May 2025, SS Innovations announced plans to submit a de novo classification request to the U.S. FDA to further advance regulatory approval.

Since launching sales in August 2022, SS Innovations has installed 80 SSi Mantra robotic systems across 75 hospitals. The system is currently approved for use in India, Nepal, Ecuador, Guatemala, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Ukraine.

The company’s robotic technology has been applied in a broad range of surgery types, including general surgery, urology, gynecology, cardiac, gastrointestinal, thoracic, head and neck, and breast and plastic surgeries.

SS Innovations is among several companies working to make advanced robotic surgeries accessible worldwide through teleoperation. Notably, MicroPort recently completed six robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy surgeries in Angola using its MedBot surgical robot, including two performed remotely—marking the first telesurgery procedures in sub-Saharan Africa using that technology.

With its expanding footprint and innovative technology, SS Innovations continues to push the boundaries of surgical robotics, aiming to improve patient outcomes and expand access to cutting-edge procedures worldwide.
